Saints Basketball in Action Today!

Both the men's and women's basketball teams will be in action today as each attempts to keep a 3-game winning streak going.

The men (4-2) will be home, taking on Polk State College with a 7 pm tip off scheduled at the SF gymnasium.

The Saints are led in scoring by sophomore Brady Fernandes who is averaging 19 points per game followed by Miles Coleman at 15.8 and John Mason at 10.3. Mason is the Saints leading rebounder, averaging 8.2 per game.

Coleman is coming off a college career high 25 points at Hillsborough CC last week, a game in which he nailed seven 3-pointers in the second half. The Saints rallied back from a 16-point halftime deficit to beat the Hawks 71-68.

Polk comes to Gainesville with a record of 2-3 having lost three straight including an 80-62 loss at Palm Beach last Saturday. The Eagles are led by Tekorian "TK" Smith, a 6-foot-4 freshman, guard out of Memphis, TN, who is averaging 20.8 ppg.


Meanwhile, Head Coach Chanda Stebbins and the SF women's basketball team will travel to Tallahassee to take on the NJCAA defending champion Tallahassee Community College Eagles for a game scheduled to tip at 5:30 pm.

The Saints (4-3) are coming off their third straight win last Saturday when they defeated Pensacola State College 77-67. Stephanie Jackson led the Saints with 31 points in that game while Janasia Law added 25.

Law leads the Saints in scoring with an average of 17.6 ppg. while Jackson averages 17.3, Airneisha Gamble 13.6 and Chardell Jones 13 ppg. Jones leads the Saints in rebounding averaging 7.6 per game while Keaubree Edwards is close behind at 7.4 per game. Gamble leads the Saints in assists averaging 3.6 per game.

The Eagles are a perfect 6-0 on the young season and ranked #3 in the State and #5 in the nation. Daisha Bradford, a 5-foot-7 freshman, guard out of Mobile, AL leads the eagles in scoring with an average of 14.2 ppg while Juliunn Redmond, a 5-foot-11 sophomore out of Chicago, IL is averaging 13.0 ppg.

TCC has topped the 100-point mark in four of their six games this year and is averaging 96.2 ppg. For live video of the game go to
