Gainesville, FL – St. John's River jumped on the NJCAA #1 Santa Fe Saints early on Saturday afternoon, scoring five runs in the first inning on five hits. The early lead would last however as SF answered with three in the first and two more in the third on a triple by Cade Westbrook to knot the score at 5-5.
Another big three run inning by the Vikings (20-7, 7-2 MFC) put them up 8-5 and an insurance run in the sixth made it 9-5.
The Saints (23-6, 4-2 MFC) wouldn't get back on the board until the ninth when Andrew Eyster hit his second triple of the game to score Garrett Mathes. SJRSC would get the next batter to fly out to end the game.
Mathes finished with three hits and three runs scored, Eyster had two hits, both triples, and two RBI, and Cade Westbrook chipped in two hits, including a two RBI triple.
St. John's reliever Luke Sutko was solid in relief for four innings, keeping the Saints at bay, allowing just one run on two hits, both in the ninth inning.
