The Santa Fe Saints scored in six of their eight at bats to keep the Stallions at bay and improved to 5-0 with a 7-3 win over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Wednesday afternoon in Gainesville.
Brooks Walton (2-0) earned his second win of the year, going six innings and allowing just one run, two hits and a walk while striking out five.
The Saints scored in the opening inning when Garrett Mathes slapped a one-out single and advanced to third on a single by Jonathan Logsdon. Brock Edge followed with a sacrifice fly scoring Mathes to put the Saints on the board.
The two teams swapped runs in the fourth and Edge put the Saints up 3-1 with and RBI single in the fifth. The Saints scored two more in the sixth as Zach Hand scored when Tyler Zayas reached on an error followed by a double steal with Zayas stealing second and Parker Biederer stealing home.
The Stallions kept it close with a pair of runs in the seventh, but Santa Fe scored single runs in the seventh and eighth to seal the win.
Biederer had three hits in the game for the Saints including a triple while Edge recorded two hits and two RBI.
SF (5-0 ), ranked third in the FCSAA poll and 12th in the NJCAA poll, will travel to Bradenton on Friday to take on Florida State College, Manatee-Sarasota before returning home to host South Florida State College in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12 noon.
