Three Santa Fe pitchers combined to throw a one-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over TNXL Baseball Academy Friday afternoon in Gainesville.

Donovan Benoit (2-0) lowered his earned run average to 1.00 with seven innings of one-hit ball, striking out eight while walking two.  "Benoit has been good in all three of his starts," said SF head coach Johnny Wiggs. "He threw three of his pitches consistently for strikes. His teammates have a lot of confidence playing behind him."

Austin Bass pitched a perfect eighth inning and Matt Jolley finished things up by striking out the side in the ninth.

"As a whole our pitchers are gaining confidence through each other's success," said Wiggs. "Pitching well has become contagious and the five shutouts in 11 games has helped us get off to a great start."

Seven different batters had hits for the Saints including Garrett Mathes who connected for his fourth double of the year in the fifth to extend his hitting streak to eight games. The Saints also stole a season high five bases in the game.

SF (10-1) will travel to Avon Park Saturday to take on South Florida State College in a doubleheader scheduled to begin at noon.
