Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints went on the road and played the #15 team in the country down to the end, falling 90-81 to Florida Southwestern College in Ft. Myers.
The Saints (6-4) played the Buccaneers even through the first 20 minutes, taking a 43-43 tie into the locker room.
FSW wore down an injury depleted Saints team in the second half, outscoring SF by nine for the final 90-81 margin.
"Our guys did a lot of good things tonight and played tough against a very good FSW team," said SF Coach Chris Mowry. "We will take what we learned and try and get better from it."
Alsean Evans led Santa Fe in scoring with 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting, 10 rebounds, and two blocks, Ivan Smith had 18 points, Darrell Jones scored 12 to go with five rebounds, and Malik Morrow had 11 points and eight rebounds.
Santa Fe will continue in Ft. Myers on Saturday against Broward College at 12 noon.
