Peres and the Saints Sweep Broward, 8-3 and 6-0

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe offense was on full display Friday afternoon against Broward College as the Saints (3-2) piled up 14 runs in a double header sweep of the Seahawks, 8-3 and 6-0.

Maddy Peres (2-1) pitched game one and struck out six over seven innings of work for her second win of the season.

Designated player Chelsea Malcolm put the Saints on the board in the first inning, slamming a two run double to the center field fence.  They added four more in the second on a fielder's choice, a bases loaded walk to Malcolm, and a two RBI single by Maddy Peres.  They added insurance runs in the fourth and the sixth to put the game away.

Malcolm finished 1-for-1 with a double, three RBI and two walks, Keysha Gordon was 3-for-4, and Peres finished 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Kayla Taylor started in the circle game two and dominated, allowing just two hits in six innings while striking out five.

Beri Scott put the Saints on the board in the second, hitting a sacrifice fly to score Brashella Keys.  In the fourth SF added three runs on two errors and a single by Evelyn Arguelles.  Brashella Keys and Sarah Ortiz put an exclamation point on the win in the fifth, blasting back to back homeruns to make the score 6-0.

The game ended after the top of the sixth due to darkness, giving the Saints the victory. 

Ortiz finished 2-for-2 with a homerun, and Brashella Keys was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a RBI.

The Saints are back in action at home again tomorrow at 1:00 PM in double header action against St. Petersburg College.
