Gainesville, FL – For the fourth time this season the Santa Fe Saints rallied from down three runs or more, this time erasing a 5-0 deficit to defeat Palm Beach State College 8-5 in the first game of a double header. They completed the two game sweep with an 8-0 win in game two. SF has now beaten the Panthers three times this season in as many contests.
A rough third inning in the first half of the double header put SF behind 5-0, but an immediate response, including a homerun from Bailee Moll gave the Saints a 7-5 lead through three. SF added an insurance run in the fifth and Tihana Zupanic finished the game in the circle with 4.2 innings pitched in relief to pick up the victory.
In game two the Saints clung to a 1-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth looking for some insurance runs. They did more than that, scoring seven to force an 8-0 mercy rule victory.
Alison Sievers went the distance in the circle, allowing just four hits and no runs for the shutout victory.
The Saints will be back in action a week from today on March 9 when they host Lincoln Land CC (IL) in a double header at 2:00 p.m.
