Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints came up short in their bid for a postseason spot on Monday afternoon in Leesburg against Lake Sumter State College, falling twice to the Lakehawks.
It wasn't without a fight in game one as the Saints fought back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game with a three run seventh inning. LSSC answered in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a win on a two out RBI single.
The loss in game one officially eliminated SF from playoff contention.
In game two the Lakehawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and added three more in the sixth. The lone SF run came in the fifth on a passed ball.
Kaitlyn Bennett had two hits, giving her five on the day.
The Saints (27-28-2) will take some time off before returning to the field at home against Indian River State College on Aril 27 at 2:30 p.m.
