Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe sophomore guard Stephanie Ball (pictured) has made her college commitment and signed with NCAA Division II institution the University of South Carolina-Aiken. Sophomore Areana Davis has also made her upper division college choice and will play next season for Hampton University, a NCAA Division I school in Hampton, VA.
The Pirates of Hampton University have been unbeatable the last two plus season in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, running off 43 straight conference wins dating back to January 30, 2012. In his six seasons at the helm, Coach David Six has guided the Pirates to five NCAA Tournament appearances, a 127-35 overall record, and an impressive 74-6 mark in MEAC play.
Davis joins Hampton after one season at Santa Fe where she averaged 6.1 points and a team best 6.9 rebounds per game.
"I am so proud of Areana for moving on to Hampton," said SF Coach Chanda Stebbins. "She is very excited to be heading back close to home. I know she is capable of making a difference and look forward to seeing her succeed there."
Stephanie Ball joins a USC-Aiken Pacers led by 13 year head coach Mike Brandt. The Pacers compete in the Peach Belt Conference and finished 2013-14 with an 11-19 overall record and a 9-10 mark in conference play.
Ball started 27 games for Coach Chanda Stebbins during the 2013-14 season, averaging 10.9 points, and a team high 4.6 assists per game. She also chipped in 3.0 rebounds and 2.7 steals per contest in helping lead SF to the FCSAA State Tournament.
'I am very happy for Stephanie," said Stebbins. "I know she is looking forward to making an impact at Aiken and finishing her Bachelor's degree. I look forward to seeing her continue to use her speed and competitiveness at the next level to help put Aiken in a position win a lot of ball games."
