Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints got off to a slow start on Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville against Florida State College-Jacksonville, and were never able to fully recover despite a strong push at the end of the game, falling to FSC-J 69-64.
The Blue Wave led 20-10 after the first 10 minutes, and 41-34 at the half, expanding that lead even further in the third to 64-45.
SF (16-14, 6-4 MFC) clamped down on defense in the fourth quarter and nearly made an improbable comeback, getting to within two points, but missed both free throws with a chance to tie in the closing minutes.
FSC-J closed the game with a basket and a foul for the final five point margin.
Rayven Wade led Santa Fe with 13 points and Ari Emanuel-Wright had 12.
The Saints will return home on Wednesday, February 17 to host Daytona State College at 6:00 PM in their final home game of the season. The athletics department will honor 2016 retiring faculty and staff at halftime. Fans can watch the game online atwww.santafesaints.com/saintssportsnetwork
