Gainesville, FL – Losing games isn't something the Saints did much of in conference play this season, winning their first 10 contests to start MFC play, but over their last three SF (17-9, 10-3 MFC) has failed to notch a win. The three defeats have come by a combined eight points.
The big conference game with the Falcons was a close one all the way. DSC led by five after the first quarter but the Saints trimmed it to just a point at the halftime break, 33-32.
In the third quarter Santa Fe did what they needed to do and took a lead into the fourth, outscoring the Falcons 19-17 in the process.
In the fourth DSC (13-15, 5-8 MFC) pulled the game out, winning it in the closing seconds for their fifth conference win.
Five Saints scored in double figures, led by 15 from Corey Staples. Arianna Emanuel-Wright finished with 14, Evelina Avleeva had 13, Moneisha Goldsborough 12, and Rayven Wade had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Saints will try and clinch the outright Mid-Florida Conference on Wednesday, February 22 when the College of Central Florida makes the trip to Gainesville for a 6:00 PM game. At halftime, the Saints will honor all retiring SF faculty and staff from the 2017 year.
