Saints Fall to Pasco-Hernando, 3-2

September 18, 2014

New Port Richey, FL – The third time was a charm for Pasco Hernando State College as they finally got the better of Santa Fe in the team's third match of the season.  Like the first on August 26 in Gainesville, this one went the distance with the Conquistadors picking up the 3-2 victory (25-20, 18-25, 25-20, 11-25, 13-15).

The Saints (11-2) took sets one and three, but Pasco bounced back in a big way to win the fourth set 25-11, extending the match to a fifth set.  For the second time this season, the two teams played a 15-13 fifth set, but the Conquistadors came out on the winning end of this matchup.

Kaylin Powell was a bright spot for the Saints as she totaled 14 kills and three blocks.  Ann-Lorrayne Bzoch finished with 28 digs, and Farah Rajaee had 38 assists.

"This was a great college volleyball match by two highly competitive teams," said SF Coach Nick Cheronis.  "It was the perfect match to set us up for the rigors of conference play. In the end, they made the plays down the stretch.  That's something we are going to have to learn to do."

Santa Fe will return home for their first Mid-Florida Conference match against St. John's River State College on Tuesday, September 23 at 7:00 PM.  The match can be seen live on www.ihigh.com/santafesaints
