Saints Split a Pair of Matches; Win 30th of the Season

Gainesville, FL – The FCSAA #4/NJCAA #14 Santa Fe Saints played their final tuneups before the State Tournament and split a pair of matches, dropping the first to FCSAA #2 State College of Florida 3-1, and picking up a straight set victory over Palm Beach State College 3-0.  SF finishes the regular season with a 30-5 record.

The Saints faced a tough SCF Manatee team in the first match of the day and split the first two sets before dropping the final two for just their fifth loss of the season (24-26, 25-22, 14-25, 24-26).

Savannah Young finished with 12 kills, and Ruth Harrington had 10.  Farah Rajaee led the way with 36 assists and Young and Harrington capped their double doubles with 11 digs each.

The second match of the day saw SF come out strong and dominated Palm Beach 25-15, 25-13, 25-16.  Kaylin Powell and Ruth Harrington each had 12 kills, Rajaee had 33 assists, and Ann-Lorrayne Bzoch led all players with 21 digs.

The Saints will now prepare for play in the FCSAA State Tournament November 6-9 in Jacksonville, FL.  Their first round match will be against Daytona State College at 10:00 AM on November 6.
