Gainesville, FL – It wasn't easy, but the Santa Fe Saints got it done on Thursday evening, defeating a scrappy St. John's River team to improve to 17-3 overall and 5-1 in the Mid-Florida Conference.

The FCSAA #3/NJCAA #10 Saints took the first set 25-21 but were knocked back in the second set, falling to the Vikings 25-21.  Coach Nick Cheronis made some adjustments between sets, the SF players answered the bell, bringing their A game in the third set to roll to a 25-10 win.  They kept the pressure on in the fourth set and pulled away for a 25-15 win, sealing the victory.

Nadine Williams was a tough matchup for St. John's as she led the way with 17 kills and 13 digs for her twelfth double double of the season.  Farah Rajaee finished with a season high 37 assists, Sheyanne Sullivan had 11 kills, and Julie Fuchs had 10.  Jane Early led all players with four blocks.

As a team, the Saints were very productive behind the service line, finishing with 14 aces, and also dominated at the net, accumulating 10 blocks.

Santa Fe will get right back after it on Friday, October 9 when they welcome FCSAA #1/NJCAA #8 Polk State to Gainesville for a matinee match at 3:00 PM.  Pomodoro Café will be there serving up their award winning pizza, pepperoni rolls, and more in the lobby, free of charge for all fans.
