Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Daytona State College on Saturday afternoon in Gainesville, picking up a 26-24 win in set one, and a 25-19 win in set two. The Falcons stepped their game up over the next three sets however, rallying for the 3-2 road Mid-Florida Conference victory. The win moves DSC (13-7, 6-1 MFC) two full games clear of Santa Fe (13-8, 4-3 MFC) for second in the conference.
"Our effort was great, but beating good teams takes more than effort," said SF Coach Nick Cheronis. "It takes making the right plays at the right time. It doesn't matter how often you execute, it's when."
Santa Fe kept the Falcons off balance through the first two sets, but couldn't make the plays when they needed them in the final three, surrendering double digit points to service errors.
The Saints will play their final home game of the season on Tuesday, October 18 at 7:00 PM against Florida State College-Jacksonville.
