Saints Season Ends With 3-0 Loss to St. Pete

The Santa Fe Saints saw their season come to an end with a 3-0 loss to St. Petersburg College Saturday afternoon in the third round of the NJCAA District/FCSAA State Tournament being held in Bradenton.

The Saints came out strong in set one, quickly taking a 12-5 lead. One of Kelly Catlett's 12 kills on the day gave the Saints their largest lead at 15-7. Santa Fe was seemingly in control at 23-18 until the Titans (14-3) outscored the Saints 8-2 to get the 26-24 win.

Sets two and three were all St. Pete as the Titans won 25-13 and 25-14 respectively.

Maggie Mathews recorded nine kills on the day for SF.

The Saints season comes to an end with an overall record of 20-5 and a Panhandle Conference Championship.

"This has been a great group to coach," said Head Coach Nick Cheronis. "I am very honored to have had the opportunity to coach this team. They gave all they had every day."
