This week's Alumni Spotlight features Santa Fe Softball Alumni playing at the next level!
This week's Alumni Spotlight are recent baseball alumni who are continuing their careers at the next level. As the NCAA and NAIA baseball seasons are just about to kick off or are in their first two weeks, here are twenty five former Saints who are playing at the next level!
Trey Freeman at Florida International University
- Trey Freeman played in 64 games during his two years at Santa Fe, collecting 48 hits and slashing .293/.420/.433 for his career. The infielder improved greatly between his freshman and sophomore season, increasing his batting average by .041 while nearly doubling his extra base hits.
Griffin Sorrow at East Tennessee State University
- Griffin Sorrow was an impact player from day 1 for the Saints, appearing in 86 games over 2 seasons. Sorrow tallied a .222 average as a freshman before exploding with a .301 average his sophomore season while driving in 20 runs. He was named the Bill Tuten Award Winner, which goes to the top baseball scholar-athlete in the FCSAA.
Macklin Miller at University of West Georgia
- Macklin Miller played 2 seasons for the Saints after taking a redshirt year in 2023. Miller, a 6'3 righty, posted an 8.50 ERA in his time at Santa Fe. Miller also posted a 10.06 K/9 ratio his second year with a WHIP just above 2.00
Nick Staszak at Mercer University
- Nick Staszak appeared in 35 games for Santa Fe across two seasons as a Saint. Staszak, a 6'5, 220 lb right-handed pitcher, posted a career ERA of 7.08 while striking out 69 batters during that time.
Erik Blair at Barry University
- Erik Blair played in one season, appearing in 46 games as a redshirt sophomore. Blair posted a .294 average while driving in 32 runs to go along with 4 home runs. He fielded at a .915 clip in the outfield.
Chase Chappell at North Carolina Wesleyan University
- Chase Chappell spent 3 seasons at Santa Fe, opting to redshirt his sophomore year. Chappell posted a 2.20 ERA his freshman year in 28.2 innings pitched. He finished his career with a record of 4-7 with 67 total innings pitched.
Javier Soto at the University of Tampa
- Javier Soto played 78 games across two seasons for the Saints. He had a career average of .294 and hit 10 homers his freshman season. His .987 fielding percentage speaks to his sure handedness in the outfield.
Rex Smith at Virginia Commonwealth University
- Rex Smith played in 36 games during his lone season as a Saint. The infielder hit .275 while posting a .438 on-base percentage with 25 total hits and 24 walks.
Robert Nedry at University of North Carolina at Charlotte
- Robert Nedry played in 45 games as a sophomore for Santa Fe totaling 173 at bats. Nedry would slash .422/.512/.630, driving in 45 runs in the process and leading the Saints in many offensive categories. Nedry was also named First Team All-State.
Lucas Johns at University of Tampa
- Lucas Johns pitched in a total of 32 total innings or the Santa Fe Saints in 2 seasons. Lucas kept a 4.73 ERA his second season with a total of 59.0 innings pitched. He struck out 48 batters and was 6-1 in 2025.
Zack Dejesus at University of West Florida
- Zack Dejesus had a career batting average of .341 and a slugging percentage of .530 with Santa Fe over his two seasons, finishing his sophomore season with 45 hits, 27 RBIs and 5 home runs.
Mason McManus at Erskine College
- Mason McManus appeared in 18 games for the Saints in one season as a sophomore. He contributed as part of the Saints lineup with 6 runs scored and 4 RBIs white hitting for extra bases twice.
Colby Rice at Florida Southern College
- Colby Rice is a right-handed pitcher who played two seasons with the Saints, making 37 appearances. He pitched a total of 39 innings his second year with an average of 10.85 strikeouts per game.
Justin Jackson at Tennessee Wesleyan University
- Justin Jackson is a 6'3" lefty who made 15 appearances in 2024. With his 11 wins, he tied for the second most in NJCAA Division I, and his 106 strikeouts is the sixth most in the nation. He posted an impressive WHIP of 1.10 without throwing a single wild pitch as well as an ERA of 2.20 and over 98.1 innings pitched. Jackson was a Second Team All-American and State Pitcher of the Year.
Matthew Jenkins at University of Florida
- Matthew Jenkins appeared in 16 games for the Saints in his lone season as a freshman. The 6'6 right-handed pitcher posted a 4.74 ERA while striking out 60 batters and was 7-5 on the mound.
Drake Harman at Georgia Southwestern State
- Drake Harman played two seasons with the Saints, with a total of 100 games played, racking up 341 total at bats. He earned 115 hits and 60 RBIs throughout his time at Santa Fe.
BJ Graham at Florida Tech
- BJ Graham appeared in 38 total games as a sophomore, totaling 101 at bats. He held a batting average of .376 with 38 hits, 23 RBIs, and 4 home runs.
Anthony Fimiano at Florida Tech
- Anthony Fimiano played two seasons as catcher with the Saints and had a .304 batting average with 40 hits and 19 RBIs in his sophomore season. He also recorded a career fielding percentage of .981 behind the plate.
Cory Filley at Florida Southern College
- Cory Filley played in 85 games over his 2 seasons at Santa Fe. He finished his sophomore season with a batting average of .291 with 50 hits and 33 RBIs, 13 of those hits going for extra bases.
Wyatt Campbell James Madison University
- Wyatt Campbell was a two-way player for the Saints, accumulating 287 at bats and 48.1 innings pitched over 2 seasons. His career ERA with Santa Fe was 5.03 and he had 71 hits and 7 home runs on the offensive side.
AJ Barrios at Rollins College
- AJ Barrios played one season with the Saints in 2024 accumulating 58 hits over 158 at bats, as well as 32 RBIs and 18 extra base hits. He finished the season with an impressive .367 batting average and a slugging average of .532.
Tobin Moran at University of Tampa
