Alumni Spotlight: Lydia Cuff
This week's Alumni Spotlight is Lydia Cuff who played Women's Basketball from 2012-2013!
Gainesville, FL
Lydia Cuff made a lasting impact during her time with the Santa Fe Women's College Basketball team through her leadership and presence on the court, as well as her strong community background off the court. The Toronto native brought a strong competitive nature to the Saints as a 6'2 center during the 2011-2013 seasons. Following her career at Santa Fe, she continued her collegiate career at the University of the Cumberlands from 2013 to 2015. During this time, she earned recognition for her rebounding and double-double performances, helping to lead the program to the 2015 Mid-South Conference Semifinals.
Although her basketball career was cut short due to injury, Cuff embraced the challenge and discovered a new purpose beyond the game. Her passion for health and helping others led her naturally into the fitness and coaching industries, where she continues to make an impact on athletes and her local community.
Today, Cuff is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and the founder of Fit with Lyd, a hybrid coaching business she founded in July 2023, based in Toronto. She creates personalized programs that combine strength, conditioning, nutrition, recovery, and progress tracking to help her clients create and maintain sustainable lifestyle changes. Her coaching philosophy focuses on injury recovery, mobility, and confidence building, and creates an inclusive, trauma-informed environment for every client she works with.
She has also maintained her connection with basketball through mentorship and youth development. She is the founder and director of Camp 44, a basketball and leadership initiative honoring Shanice Clark. Camp 44 focuses on building character, confidence, leadership skills, and creating meaningful mentorship opportunities for young athletes. Shanice Clark was a teammate of Lydia's at Santa Fe. Lydia took the lead with other former teammates, family, and coaches to establish a scholarship in Shanice Clark's honor. Cuff has also been a coach and instructor with PGC Basketball since 2023, where she mentors young athletes, emphasizing communication, leadership, and mindset development on and off the court.
