This week's Tuesday Teammate of the Week is Gavin Jones!
Gainesville, FL
Gavin Jones is this week's Tuesday Teammate of the Week!
Gavin Jones spent his first year with Santa Fe Baseball in 2026 as a redshirt, but will be returning to Santa Fe for his first playing season in 2027. Jones is a local native of Gainesville, bringing his infield talents from Oak Hall High School to play for the Saints. In the classroom, he is a health sciences major, earning a 2026 All-Saints Academic Team award in the Spring.
During his first year with the Saints, Jones earned a strong reputation in the Saints community as the secretary and treasurer of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC). In the offseason, Jones was a lead student advocate for the Hitchcock Family Clubhouse, speaking in front of hundreds in the Gainesville and Santa Fe communities. Among his teammates, coaches, and athletics, Jones is noted for his strong character and caring spirit, always looking to make a difference with those around him.
Prior to his time at Santa Fe, Jones was a standout dual-sport athlete. As a star player in both baseball and basketball, Jones won 1A Player of the Year in both sports. Honing in on baseball for his collegiate career, Jones looks to earn an expanded role after opting to redshirt as a freshman and build his skills.
UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine sponsors a "Teammate of the Week" selection from all five Santa Fe Saints sports teams. The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), the SF sport specific coaches, and the athletic director nominate deserving Saints for this weekly award. Teammates of the week will embody the character qualities the SAINTS (Seek, Aware, Integrity, Noble-Minded, Thankful, and Safe) emphasize and value. SF Student-Athletes who impact their team, community, classmates, and families for the better are the best candidates for this weekly award hosted by proud SF partner UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
