Saints Downed 3-2 by TCC Eagles
The Santa Fe Saints stranded 12 runners on base in a 3-2 loss to Tallahassee Community College in the capital city Monday afternoon.
"We didn't execute well enough at the plate, in the field or on the mound," said SF head coach Johnny Wiggs.
The Eagles (8-6) took a 2-0 lead in the third inning with all the damage coming after two were out and no base runners. A walk, a pair of singles and a balk put TCC in the lead.
The Saints (12-4) would cut the deficit to 2-1 in the top of the sixth but TCC answered with a run of the own in the bottom of the inning. The Saints would score again in the seventh but would not be able to push another run across.
"We just need to continue to mature and grow as a team and control the things we can control," said Wiggs.
Nick Herndon and Luis Rodriguez had two hits apiece for the Saints. Devin Hemenway (1-1) took the loss.
SF will travel to Bradenton on Wednesday to take State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota and will return home on Friday to host Polk State at 3 pm.
