GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After two seasons with the Santa Fe Saints baseball team, Nick Herndon has decided to continue his academic and athletic career with the Georgia Southern Eagles.
Georgia Southern is a member of the Division I Sun Belt Conference. Head Coach Rodney Hennon just finished his 22nd season with the team, leading the Eagles to a record of 34-23.
Hennon has been named SoCon Coach of the Year two times in 2000 and 2001. He has led them to the NCAA Regionals six times and has won the Southern Conference title in 2009, 2011, 2014, and the Sun Belt Conference in 2019. Hennon has won over 700 games for the Eagles, including the 34 this past season. He is hoping to improve upon their team with this new class of recruits.
Herndon, the Thomasville, Georgia native and Thomas County Central High School graduate, contributed as an outfielder and designated hitter this season for Head Coach Johnny Wiggs.
The left-handed batter appeared in 36 games and hit for a .304 average. He finished his season with 34 hits in his 112 at-bats, which included nine doubles, three triples, and two home runs. He batted for a .356 average with 32 hits, including four doubles, one triple, and two home runs. He came around to score for 23 runs and had 18 RBI.
