Santa Fe (20-25) (9-21) drops both games to Eastern Florida (18-29) (11-19) by scores of 14-5 and 3-2.
The Saints struggled out of the games early in Game 2 of the series, as the Titans scored 8 runs in the bottom of the first to take a commanding lead from the jump. The Saints answered with one run in the second and two more in the third to cut the lead to 8-3, but the Titans added one run in the third themselves to make the score 9-3.
The Saints pushed two more runs across in the top of the fourth on a home run to left field by JP Espinosa.
James Suarez took the loss for Santa Fe. The hurler went two-thirds of an inning, giving up seven runs (zero earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking one.
Despite the loss, Santa Fe accumulated 11 hits in the game. Shawn Andrade set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Santa Fe with three hits in four at bats. Ryan Chase and JP Espinosa were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs. Joseph Calise also collected two hits.
Game 3 of the series was a rubbermatch, as both teams pitching and defense was excellent.
Eastern Florida got on the board first in the second inning after Askin singled, scoring two runs. A single by Prieto extended the Eastern Florida State College lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
Pagan stepped on the bump first for Santa Fe. The starter surrendered five hits and three runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking three.
Ryan Chase and Shawn Andrade were again a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in a run for Santa Fe Saints. James Suarez stole four bases.
The Saints outhit the Titans 8-5 but were unable to push across the go-ahead run in the later innings.
Santa Fe will take a trip to Seminole State on Thursday, March 23rd for game one of the final regular season series of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00pm. The Raiders will make the return trip to Harry Tholen Field on Saturday, March 25th for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00pm.
