A high octane first game led the Raiders to defeat the Saints 12-9 in game one of the doubleheader in Gainesville.
Seminole State got on the board in the first inning when Orozco hit a solo home run to left field. They extended their early lead with two more runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Ercole and Resmondo. The Raiders tacked on five more runs in the top of the third thanks to home runs by Orozco, Hurt, Vega, and Ercole.
Santa Fe chased a comeback made the score 9-6 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Maddox Lee homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Wyatt Tesar homered to right field, scoring two runs.
The Saints made the score 12-9 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Ryan Chase homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Joseph Calise singled, scoring one run.
James Suarez pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for Santa Fe. The hurler gave up five hits and four runs while, striking out five and walking one. Matthew Pagan took the loss. He went two and one-third innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits, striking out four and walking one.
Dispite the loss, Santa Fe collected 12 hits in the game. Akhil Nimmala led the team with three hits in four at bats. Lee and Tesar each drove in three runs for Santa Fe Saints.
Game two was a much closer affair, and was ruled my timely hitting and great pitching. The Saints snatched the lead late in their 5-4 victory.
The game was tied at four in the bottom of the eighth when Chase doubled, scoring one run.
Santa Fe got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Hayden Montanez tripled down the right field line, and Ryan Chase grounded out, each scoring one run.
Hurt doubled to center field, which helped Seminole State tie the game at two in the top of the third.
A single by Ethan Monrad gave Santa Fe Saints the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the fourth.
The Raiders then took the lead in the top of the sixth. Jonas singled, scoring two runs, to give them the upper hand, 4-3.
Samuel Castillo walked, which helped Santa Fe tie the game at four in the bottom of the seventh.
Dylan Lovelace earned the win. The reliever surrendered one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out one and walking two. McAfee took the loss for Seminole State. The hurler went one inning, surrendering one run on two hits, striking out one and walking one. Kaden Howell stepped on the hill first for Santa Fe Saints. The starter surrendered seven hits and two runs over four innings, striking out three and walking two. Ben Monger also appeared in relief.
Santa Fe Saints piled up nine hits in the game. The number nine hitter, James Leach, showed the depth of the Saints's lineup, by leading them with three hits in four at bats. Hayden Montanez, Ethan Monrad, Ryan Chase, and Samuel Castillo each drove in one run.
