Ben Monger signs to West Virginia State University

After spending two years with Santa Fe College, Ben Monger will be heading to West Virginia State University to play for the Yellow Jackets. Monger is a native of Jacksonville, FL, bringing his experience from Bishop Kenny High School to play for the Saints.
Across his two years at Santa Fe, Monger recorded a 4-0 record in 18 appearances. Monger spent 2024 as a redshirt, and the past two seasons earning larger roles on the pitching staff. At Santa Fe, Monger pitched in 26 innings and recorded 20 strikeouts. In a relief effort on January 24th against Gulf Coast State College, Monger recorded 3 strikeouts and helped Santa Fe to a 7-4 win.
Joining Santa Fe's pitching rotation in 2025, Monger chose Santa Fe in order to improve his abilities and prepare himself to transfer to the next level. He earned two All-Saints Academic Team awards, demonstrating his hardworking ability as a student.
Monger will be joining WVSU's pitching rotation for the 2027 season, with a team that finished strong by winning 4 of their final 6 games. Monger will be pitching under head coach Sean Loyd, a 12-year veteran to the program with a career record of 216-134 (.617). Playing for an experienced and winning head coach was a sure fit for Monger's interests, and he will set his sights on pitching at the next level.
