Mann Sets his Sights on Next Stop at McNeese State
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Guard Nasir Mann of Santa Fe College Men's Basketball, a Gainesville native, has signed to continue his academic and athletic career at McNeese State University.
The explosive wing attended The Villages prior to his two-year career with the Saints. After contributing to a Central Conference title for SF in 2021-2022, Mann made plenty of jaws drop during a breakout sophomore season in which he was named to the Central Conference Second Team.
In 2022-2023, he played in 27 games and started in 25. Mann ranked third on the Saints with a scoring average of 14.4 points per game and second in rebounding average (6.5). He shot nearly 45 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from three-point territory, had 21 games with double-digit scoring, and brought the crowd to its feet with several electrifying dunks.
Mann set new career-high marks with 25 points at FSCJ (Feb. 11) and 15 rebounds at Central Georgia Tech (Nov. 26), and produced three double-doubles on the season. He was named the NJCAA Player of the Week on Jan. 4 (Story), and contributed defensively on the season by leading the team with 1.4 steals per contest.
McNeese State Men's Basketball is coached by Head Coach Will Wade. Wade was introduced as the 12th head coach in McNeese Cowboys basketball history on March 13, 2023 in front of an excited fanbase in the Legacy Center. Wade has compiled a 196-96 overall record in nine years as a head coach at LSU, VCU and Chattanooga. The Cowboys compete in the Southland Conference of the NCAA Division I.
Mann is now the fourth Santa Fe College men's basketball player to have committed to a four-year program, as so far announced on santafesaints.com
