Santa Fe improves to (11-1) with two wins at the 9th Annual B-Mac's Christmas Classic held in Waycross, GA.
The Saints took the court for two games; an 8:00pm tip on Friday night vs South Georgia State College (3-7) and a 2:00 tip vs Albany Tech (6-7) the following day.
Santa Fe notched their 10th win of the year on Friday with a 77-68 win vs the Hawks. Alex Pierre-Louis led the Saints with 15 points while Palmer Walton and Guy Twitty added 12 and 11 respectively. Alex Nokes grabbed 10 rebounds in the win.
"We got a win vs a tough team on the road. SGSC really controlled the pace for the first half but I thought we did a much better job pushing the pace and sharing the ball in the second half" adds Head Coach John Ritzdorf. "Walton, Pierre-Louis, and Tre Dubois hit some big shots to put us in a good spot down the stretch and eventually come away with our 10th win of the year.
The Saints shot 29-57 from the field and held the Hawks to under 17% from 3.
The following day, Santa Fe beat Albany Tech 89-65 despite a back and fourth first half with both teams entering the break tied at 35.
"We fought through a sluggish first half and got the game sped up to our pace more in the second half. We had several guys step up during our second half run including Moses Horne, Alex Pierre-Louis, Palmer Walton, and Tre Dubois" Ritzdorf mentioned. "We did a great job making them hit tough shots all game long and picked up the rebounding in the second half.
Moses Horne led all scorers with 27 points as the Saints stormed to a 54-30 second half scoring advantage. Dubois had 19 points in the contest while Pierre-Louis and Walton added 15 and 14. Horne and Dubois cleaned the glass with 9 rebounds each.
Santa Fe is back in the Santa Fe College Gymnasium on Tuesday, December 16th at 6:00pm vs nationally ranked Tallahassee State College for a 6:00pm tip. The Eagles (14-1) are the only team to have beaten Santa Fe this season as the Saints dropped an 80-81 contest just a month ago.
