Saints Back in the Win Column
Santa Fe takes down Miami Dade in a Saturday afternoon matchup in Gainesville
Gainesville, FL
Santa Fe (13-4) halts two game skid as they take down Miami Dade (12-7) behind a strong effort all around.
Santa Fe shot the ball well en route to their 13th win of the year behind 21 points from Palmer Walton (tying his career high) and 15 points from both Harvey Wilson and Tre Dubois. Walton cashed in on 6 3-pointers on the night.
The Saints got out to a good start and extended their lead to double digits midway through the second half, but not before Miami Dade went on a run and knotted the score up at 30. A basket under the hoop with 5 seconds left cut the Saints lead to 36-34 and sent both teams into the half eager to play the final 20 minutes.
The second half was much more explosive, with the Saints outscoring Miami Dade 46-41 clinching the win. Jahari Simmons' 10-point effort was highlighted by a huge 3 with a minute left extending the SF lead to 79-73, and the Saints hit 3-4 free throws to put the game on ice.
Santa Fe travels to Hillsborough Community College on Wednesday, January 21st for a 7:00 tipoff in Tampa. They return home on Saturday, January 24th at 4:00 vs Florida SouthWestern.
