Saints struggle vs FSW
A sluggish second half causes the Saints to drop to FSW
Gainesville, FL
Santa Fe (14-5) falls to Florida SouthWestern (16-5) by a final score of 79-64 in Gainesville on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints were plagued by a second half full of missed shots and lockdown defense by Florida SouthWestern. Both teams got out to a fast start and raced to a first half FSW lead by a score of 45-42, padded by 13 first half points by Joel Harrison and another 12 by Moses Horne. Horne's 12 all came by way of 3-pointers. Both teams left their second half scoring in the lockerroom, as it was a much more strategic and defensive half of basketball. FSW limited the Saints to just 22 points in the second half, and just 64 points in the game. The game was within two to three possessions for the overwhelming majority of the game, but struggles from the FT line and late game misses extended the Bucs lead and put the game away.
The Bucs were led by Lamont Hartfield, who cashed 7 3-pointers making for a game high 21 points. Two other Bucs also finished in double figures; Kenyon Giles with 17 and Tyler Bey with 14.
Harrison finished the day with 20 points while Moses Horne tallied 14 in the contest. Alex Pierre-Louis notched 11 as well.
Santa Fe will return home on Wednesday, January 28th at 6:00 vs Indian River State College
