Game 2
Eastern Florida State College
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe Softball used two great pitching performances from the circle to sweep a home doubleheader with Eastern Florida State College, 2-1 and 10-0 (6 Inn.).
GAME 1 - SF 2, EFSC 1
Although each team scored single runs in the opening inning, run production proved to be hard to come by in the pitcher's duel.
Abrianna Hickox had an RBI double to score the Saints' first run in the bottom of the first frame.
SF brought in the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded, Ayanna Woodard was hit by a pitch to put the Saints in front.
Starter Sophie Abrams set the Titans down in order, wrapping up the win with a strikeout.
Key Statistics
Abrams improved to 6-3 with her second consecutive complete game victory. The Eastern Florida bats had just three hits, a run, and four walks, but Abrams set down seven with strikeouts in the impressive outing.
The SF bats had just four hits, with Hickox's double being the only extra-base knock in the opener.
GAME 2 - SF 10, EFSC 0 (6 INN.)
The offense came to life, however, in the day's finale. SF won their fourth straight and improved to 11-1 at the SF Softball Field with a six-inning obliteration of the Titans.
The Saints plated two runs in the opening inning, three more in the fifth, then sealed it with a five-spot in the sixth.
Key Statistics
Just as her counterpart Abrams was dominant in Game 1, Darian Ingram was exceptional in Game 2. Ingram's complete game shutout came with just two hits allowed, no walks, and five K's. 53 of her 78 pitches in the game went for strikes.
The Saints finished with 11 hits from seven different players, including a single from Taniah Bowers in her first at-bat. Bowers joined the Saints after concluding her season with SF Women's Basketball.
Riley Schnyder and Keeli Zingaro each had two hits. Schnyder scored twice and had one RBI, while Zingaro scored once and drove in two.
Hickox continued to swing a powerful bat, blasting two home runs. She led the SF offense with a three-run shot in the sixth, then walked it off in the seventh with yet another three-run drive. When the dust had settled, Hickox went 3-of-4 with two runs and six RBI.
