Saints Split with TCC Eagles in Tallahassee
Tallahassee, FL- On Thursday, the Saints traveled north to face Tallahassee Community College. The Saints split the doubleheader with the Eagles, winning Game 1 8-4 and dropping Game 2 9-3. They are now 5-3 on the season.
How It Happened
Game 1
Ryleigh Bauer received the start, pitching the entire seven innings for the Saints with three strikeouts and zero walks.
The Saints were on the board first with a solo home run by Karris Rhine on a first-pitch swing.
The Saints added to their lead as Aliana Mercado and Sydney Fowler doubled, followed by a home run from Alexis Daphney.
Jolee Camp hit a home run putting the Eagles on the board and cutting the Saints lead to 4-3. She also would come in later to pitch relief for Sophie Ryon.
Daphney was the leading hitter for the Santa Fe as she went 4-for-5 with a homerun on the day. Sydney Fowler, Madi Conway, and Gabrial Miles all recorded multiple hits. Pyper Smith led the way for the Eagles with two hits and one home run.
Game 2
Mallory Forrester started out in the circle for Santa Fe. She was eventually relieved by Ryleigh Bauer.
The Saints struck first with one run. Sydney Fowler, who was the leadoff batter, started her team off with a base hit. Karris Rhine was up next and was walked. Ariana Wright then hit an RBI single to score Sydney Fowler, putting the Saints on the board first.
TCC's Sophia Ryon hit a home run on the first pitch against the Saints to tie the game in the bottom of the first inning. The Saints would then struggle to score until later in the game.
By the top of the fifth inning, the Eagles led 8-1 over the Saints.
To get the Saints rolling again, Gabrial Miles led off with a base hit in the fifth to score Ariana Wright. They would go on to score another run making it 9-3. This would also be the final score as the Eagles would go on to win Game 2.
