Saints Battle Hard Against Falcons
Gainesville, FL - On Tuesday afternoon, the Santa Fe Saints traveled to Daytona to face off in a doubleheader against the Daytona State College Falcons. The Saints won the first game with a score of 2-1 and lost the second game with a score of 3-1. Their record progresses to 28-12.
How It Happened
Game 1
Mallory Forrester started on the mound for the Saints and pitched for the entire seven innings. She allowed four hits, one run, and had four strikeouts. Kamaya Cohen was the leading hitter for the Saints this afternoon with two crucial hits.
The starting pitcher for the Falcons was Allizaya Talamantes. She pitched for all seven innings. She allowed three hits, two runs, and had seven strikeouts. Briana Weimer, Sky Ramos, Morgan Davis, and Gissel Morales were the leading hitters in Game 1 with one hit each. Kiera Mainolfi also had one RBI in the game.
The Falcons put the first run on the board by Briana Weimer early in the game.
Shortly after, Ariana Wright had a game-changing home run that led to two RBIs and gave the Saints a 2-1 lead.
The Saints had a total of three hits in Game 1, while the Falcons had four hits. The final score of Game 1 was 2-1.
Game 2
Ryleigh Bauer started in the circle for the Saints in Game 2. She pitched for six innings, had three strikeouts, and allowed five hits and three runs. Kamaya Cohen was also the leading hitter in Game 2 for the Santa Fe Saints. She had two hits in Game 2 to add on to her two hits in Game 1.
The starting pitcher for the Falcons was Emma Ream and she pitched for six innings. She allowed six hits, one run, and had three strikeouts. Kadrianna Grinstead was the leading hitter with two hits in game two.
The Saints put the first run on the scoreboard in Game 2 in the top of the second inning thanks to a single from Karris Rhine, bringing home Madi Conway.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Falcons came back with two runs with a single from Keira Mainolfi, bringing home Kadrianna Grinstead and Logan Ringel as the Falcons took a 2-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Kadrianna Grinstead made it home once again, increasing the Falcons' lead to 3-1.
The Saints ended the game with six hits, while the Falcons only had five hits. The Saints came up short in Game 2 3-1.
