Saints split day with State College of Florida
Santa Fe splits the day but suffers first loss to SCF

Santa Fe (5-1) splits day with State College of Florida (5-7) as the Saints win the first game 8-3 but drop game two 9-13.
Game One:
Tegan Grizzard collected four hits in four at bats, as Santa Fe Saints defeated Manatees 8-3 on Saturday. Grizzard hit a solo home run to left field in the fourth inning, singled in the fifth inning, doubled in the second inning, and singled in the seventh inning.
Santa Fe opened the scoring in the first after Frierson singled, scoring one run.
A home run to center field following a 8-pitch at-bat helped the Manatees tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
Santa Fe took the lead in the top of the third. Miranda Murch homered to left field, scoring two runs, to give Santa Fe Saints the upper hand, 3-1. The Saints added two more runs in the top of the fourth inning on four hits. Grizzard hit a solo home run to left field, and Murch doubled, scoring one run.
SCF scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a home run to center field.
Belle Mancillas earned the win for Santa Fe Saints. The righty gave up five hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking three. Santa Fe tallied 11 hits in the game. Murch and Grizzard each drove in three runs for Santa Fe Saints. Frierson collected two hits in four at bats. The Saints had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game.
Bender and Grizzard each stole multiple bases for Santa Fe Saints. The Saints stole five bases in the game.
Game Two:
Santa Fe could not hold onto their early lead against SCF and fell 13-9.
Sydney English collected four hits in as many at bats in the loss. She singled in the first inning, doubled in the fourth inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the sixth inning. Her single put Santa Fe on the board first in the top of the first.
SCF tied the game up in the bottom of the first thanks to two singles. They tied the game at two on a single.
The Saints captured the lead, 6-2, in the top of the second when Molly Bender drew a walk, scoring one run, Murch hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Frierson singled, scoring two runs.
The Manatees then flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 10-9. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to left field that drove in four. They then scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth on a home run to center field.
Morgyn Stevens pitched three and one-third innings in relief for Santa Fe. The reliever gave up four hits and four runs while, striking out one and walking one. Skyler Alvarez stepped in the circle first for Santa Fe. The starter gave up six hits and five runs (three earned) over one inning, striking out none and walking none.
Santa Fe piled up 13 hits in the game. Murch, Frierson, and English each drove in two runs for Santa Fe Saints. Cox, Blankenship, and Bender each collected multiple hits.
The Saints return home to take on Tallahassee State for a doubleheader on Thursday, February 12th and 1:00 and 3:00pm.
