Santa Fe (7-1) run rules Tallahassee State (5-6) twice 11-3 and 8-0 to earn their third home sweep of the year.
Game 1: 11-3 Win
Santa Fe defeated Tallahassee State 11-3 on Thursday thanks in part to six runs in the third inning. Haylee McCrea singled, scoring one run, Camryn VanGalder singled, scoring one run, Ames induced Rylie Blankenship to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and McKenzie Cox doubled, scoring three runs.
A single by Sydney English put Santa Fe on the board in the bottom of the first.
Belle Mancillas earned the win for Santa Fe Saints. The starting pitcher allowed nine hits and three runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two.
The Saints piled up 11 hits in the game. VanGalder, the number seven hitter, led Santa Fe Saints with three hits in three at bats. Cox went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Molly Bender, Ellie Frierson, and English each collected multiple hits for Santa Fe Saints. Miranda Murch led Santa Fe Saints with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up four walks for the game. Bender and VanGalder each stole multiple bases for Santa Fe.
Game 2: 8-0 Win
Santa Fe got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Murch grounded out, English grounded out, and Thompson singled to center field, each scoring one run. The Saints added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Bender singled to center field, and English hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. A single by Bender, and a dropped third strike helped Santa Fe Saints extend their early lead in the third.
Chloe Woods earned the win for Santa Fe Saints. The pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out six and walking two.
Bender led Santa Fe Saints with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-2 on the day. Cox and Bender each stole multiple bases.
The Saints only needed 10 innings to pick up two wins, and will be on the road on Saturday, February 14th at 1:00pm and 3:00pm in Jacksonville vs FSCJ.
