Santa Fe (9-1) takes both games vs FSCJ (8-10) by scores of 9-1 and 5-1.
Game 1, 9-1 Win
McKenzie Cox drove in four runs on three hits to lead Santa Fe Saints past Manta Rays 9-1 on Saturday. She hit a home run to left field in the second inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the fifth inning, scoring two. Santa Fe got on the board in the top of the first inning after Molly Bender doubled to center field, and Sydney English flew out, each scoring one run.
Two more runs scored in the top of the second via Cox's home run to left field.
Belle Mancillas earned the win for Santa Fe. The starter surrendered three hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking three. Skyler Alvarez threw one inning of no-run ball for Santa Fe Saints in relief; she gave up zero hits. Rylie Blankenship and Camryn VanGalder led the team with two walks each.
Game 2, 5-1 Win
A single off of a nine pitch at-bat put FSCJ on the board in the bottom of the first. The score remained 1-0 until the Saints came to bat in the fifth inning.
A two RBI double by Molly Bender gave Santa Fe the lead, 2-1. Cox, Bender, and Miranda Murch all recorded RBI's in the top of the 7th inning to add much needed insurance runs for the Saints.
Chloe Woods earned the win, giving up seven hits and one run over six innings, striking out two and walking three. Morgyn Stevens collected the save.
Cox and Bender were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Santa Fe as they are right after another in the lineup. Bender led Santa Fe with three runs batted in. The center fielder went 2-for-3 on the day.
The Saints improve to 9-1 and will host State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota on Tuesday with first pitch slated for 1:00. The teams played earlier this season; splitting the series in Bradenton.
