Santa Fe improves to 13-1 on the season
Sanford, FL
Santa Fe (13-1) traveled to Sanford, FL on Friday, February 20th to face Enterprise State Community College and Pensacola State College in the CMI Tournament. The Saints beat Enterprise 6-3 and beat Pensacola 5-1.
Game 1 (vs Enterprise State Community College Weevils)
Camryn VanGalder and Haylee McCrea drew walks in the top of the fourth inning to load the bases for the Saints. Tegan Grizzard capitalized with a bases-loaded double to score all three runners (including pinch runner Alivia Vance) and give the Saints a 3-0 lead. Grizzard proceeded to steal third and home to put the Saints up 4-0.
The Weevils cut their deficit to 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth with a bases-loaded single and a bases-loaded wild pitch.
A single by Mckenzie Cox scored Rylie Blankenship in the top of the sixth, and the Weevils responded with an RBI single of their own to keep the Saints' lead at 5-3.
The Saints added an insurance run in the top of the seventh with a single by Sydney English that scored Molly Bender and extended the lead to 6-3.
Chloe Woods started for the Saints, allowing four hits, one walk, and two runs over four and one-third innings. Morgyn Stevens finished the game with two strikeouts, allowing two hits, one walk, and one run over two and two-thirds innings.
Mckenzie Cox led the team with two hits and Haylee McCrea led the team with two walks. The Saints tallied six stolen bases in the game.
The win was Savanah Webster's 150th win at Santa Fe!

Game 2 (vs Pensacola State College Pirates)
Mckenzie Cox hit a home run in the bottom of the third to give the Saints a 2-0 lead. Molly Bender followed with a single and stole second base, then Sydney English singled to score Bender and extend the lead to 3-0. English ended up scoring from a Pirate error to extend the lead to 4-0.
English doubled in the bottom of the fifth, and Hannah Hargrave subbed in as a pinch runner. Hargrave scored on a sacrifice fly by Kadence Compton to extend the Saints' lead to 5-1.
Belle Mancillas started and pitched a complete game for the Saints, recording six strikeouts and allowing three hits, one walk, and one run over seven innings.
Sydney English led the team with two hits in two at-bats, and Haylee McCrea led the team with two walks.
Santa Fe will travel to St. Petersburg College on Tuesday, February 24th for a doubleheader with 1:00pm and 3:00pm pitch times.
