Santa Fe improves to 34-8 overall, 19-7 in conference

Santa Fe (34-8, 19-7) traveled to Indian River State College (34-10, 18-8) on Saturday, April 11th, winning the first game of the doubleheader 5-0 and the second game 6-2.
Game 1
The Saints did all of their damage in the first two innings, scoring two runs in the first and three runs in the second.
Molly Bender and Mckenzie Cox both drew walks to start the game, and Sydney English brought the pair home with a double to put the Saints up 2-0.
Rylie Blankenship hit a leadoff single in the top of the second, and Miranda Murch hit a bases-loaded double later in the inning to score Blankenship, Cox, and English and extend the lead to 5-0.
The River were able to load the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but Belle Mancillas was able to induce a first-pitch ground out to end the game.
Miranda Murch, Ellie Frierson, and Rylie Blankenship all recorded two hits. Murch led the team with three RBIs and Cox stole a base. Camryn VanGalder led the team with two walks.
Belle Mancillas pitched all seven innings, recording four strikeouts and allowing six hits, three walks, and zero runs.
Game 2
The Saints took a 4-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Rylie Blankenship hit a leadoff single and scored after stealing second, third, and home. Camryn VanGalder drew a walk and ended up scoring on an error. Molly Bender scored from a Miranda Murch single after reaching base from a hit by pitch, and Sydney English scored from an Ellie Frierson single after reaching base from an error.
The River hit a double, triple, and single in the bottom of the fourth the cut the Saints' lead to 4-2. Haylee McCrea hit a bases-loaded single in the top of the fifth to score English and Murch to extend the lead back to 6-2. English and Murch both reached base from walks, and Frierson singled to load the bases.
The River hit a leadoff triple in the bottom of the fifth, but the Saints were able to force a fly out and a double play to escape the inning unscathed.
Chloe Woods struck out the first batter in the bottom of the seventh and forced a line out and fly out to end the game.
Ellie Frierson led the team with three hits, and Miranda Murch led the team with two walks. Rylie Blankenship led the team with three stolen bases.
Chloe Woods pitched all seven innings, recording one strikeout and allowing six hits and two runs.
The Saints will travel to College of Central Florida (13-29, 4-22) on Tuesday, April 14th for a doubleheader starting at 2:00pm.
