#5 Santa Fe (37-9) (22-8) splits the weekend with Miami Dade (27-16) (19-13).
The Saints split the day with Miami Dade and lost a marathon 6-5 in nine innings in the front half of the doubleheader but the offense came alive and run ruled the Sharks 15-3 in game two in a game that lasten just five innings.
The Saints staged a four run comeback in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game at 5-5 but were unable to hold the Sharks as they dropped the first game.
Grizzard evened the game up 1-1 in the first as she scored on an errant throw to third. A single by McKenzie Cox and a bases clearing double by Ellie Frierson were the hits that drove the tying runs in.
Belle Mancillas took the loss for Santa Fe. The righty went all nine innings, allowing six runs (one earned) on six hits, striking out two and walking two.
Frierson went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Cox led Santa Fe with two hits in four at bats.
The Saints offence came alive in the second game as they plated four runs in each of the first two innings to jump out to a quick 8-0 lead.
Miami Dade got one run back in the top of the third inning but the Saints quickly answered with one of their own in the bottom of the frame on a single by Sydney English. A six run bottom of the fourth inning was all the Saints needed to extend their lead to double digits as they secured threee quick outs in the top of the 5th to take the game 15-3.
Chloe Woods started the game going 2.1 innings allowing 5 hits and just one run. Morgyn Stevens threw the following 2.2 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, and striking out two batters.
Twelve Saints recorded an at-bat in the win as the Saints take the season series 3-1 over the Sharks in league play.
Santa Fe will travel to Tampa on Tuesday, April 21st to take on Hillsborough for a doubleheader beginning at 4:00pm. They will then return home to face top-5 Florida SouthWestern in Gainesville on Saturday, April 25th beginning at 12:00pm.
