Santa Fe drops both to #1 Florida SouthWestern on Saturday in Gainesville.
Both runs and hits were at a premium as two top-10 teams squared off in Gainesville for their third and fourth meetings of the season.
Santa Fe got off to a hot start as Molly Bender hit a leadoff solo home run to center field to take a 1-0 lead. The score remained that way until the 6th inning when FSW answered and tied the game at 1-1 thanks to a pair of singles. Both starting pitchers had their best stuff as the game would eventually head to extra innings.
Yzaguirre earned the win for FSW. The hurler allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out two and walking one. Morgyn Stevens took the loss for Santa Fe. The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out none and walking two. Belle Mancillas started the game for Santa Fe. The hurler allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out five and walking one. Kwakennaak led things off in the circle for FSW. The pitcher gave up three hits and one run over four innings, striking out two and walking one.
The Bucs took a 5-2 lead in the top of the 8th on one swing. The three run defcicit was too much for the Saints as they could not answer and dropped game one 5-2.
The Bucs used the momentum gained from game one to fuel their hot start early as they put up 5 runs in the first inning. They also added one run in the second after Livingston singled to center field.

Morgyn Stevens pitched three and one-third innings in relief for Santa Fe. The reliever surrendered two hits and three runs (one earned) while, striking out two and walking two. Chloe Woods took the loss; going two-thirds of an inning, giving up five runs on four hits, striking out none and walking two.
Sydney English, Hannah Hargrave, and Miranda Murch each collected one hit for Santa Fe Saints. Murch led Santa Fe Saints with one run batted in. The first baseman went 1-for-1 on the day. Santa Fe turned one double play in the game.
