Santa Fe beats Miami Dade in FCSAA Tournament
Santa Fe wins game one 5-1 in the first round of the FCSAA State Championship in Clearwater

#3 Sante Fe (44-13, 28-12) played #6 Miami Dade (34-18, 26-14) in the first round of the 2026 FCSAA DI Softball Championship held at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Florida.
The Saints came into the matchup having beaten the Sharks three games to one in their regular season matchups, sweeping the Sharks in Miami and splitting with them later on in the season in Gainesville.
Belle Mancillas was first to the circle for Santa Fe, going 6.2 innings with a line of 5 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.
The Saints had two reach base in the top of the first inning after Molly Bender and McKenzie Cox reached via a walk but that was all for Santa Fe in the first frame.
The Saints get two across in the second inning as Haylee McCrea walks and Rylie Blankenship singles. They both advance on a throwing error by the right fielder before Molly Bender drives them both in with a single to left. The Saints lead 2-0 after two innings of play.
Sydney English leads off the bottom of the third with a double as she is driven in by a single from Miranda Murch. The Saints tack on a fourth after McCrea singles with another throwing error that allows Murch to score. McCrea advances an additional two bases to third with just one out and is scored after the Sharks boot a ball up the middle on a bat from Camryn VanGalder. The Saints hold a strong 5-0 lead after three frames in Clearwater.
English led off the fourth inning with a walk and Miranda Murch singles to chase Amanda Handa, the MDC starter. Morgan Stevens takes over for Mancillas in the circle to start the 5th inning. The Sharks score one before Mancillas takes back over as she holds them to just one run.
Blankenship walks with one out in the 5th but the Saints are unable to produce any runs. Mancillas holds the same as she throws another 0 in the 6th as both teams head to the 7th inning still at 5-1 in favor of the Saints.
Mancillas works a scoreless 7th inning to secure the round one win for Santa Fe 5-1. They will play next in the winners bracket vs #2 Northwest Florida State at 4:00pm on Thursday, May 14th at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater.
