Molly Bender and Belle Mancillas have been named to the FCSAA DI All-Tournament Team
Molly Bender, a Sophomore outfielder who was named First Team All-FCSAA, First Team All-Citrus Conference North and Citrus Conference North Player of the Year made her mark throughout the FCSAA DI Softball Championship in Clearwater, Florida this past week.
Bender was one of the tournament's best defensive players, totaling a fielding percentage of 1.000 with 8 putouts and one assist as she threw out a runner at home. In addition to her arm, Bender showed her athleticism and range all tournament long by tracking balls down in all areas of the outfield. She made two unbelievable diving catches to each side that helped prevent runs from scoring that were crucial to the Saints success all week. At the plate, Bender totaled two hits (one for extra bases) and drew two walks as she faced some of Florida's best pitchers.
Belle Mancillas was the main arm used by Santa Fe throughout the week, starting in each of the Saints first three games in consecutive days. She logged 17.2 total innings while holding a 2-1 record in the circle with 9 strikeouts. Mancillas tossed a complete game in her third start of the tournament as she went 7.0 innings, 9 hits, 3 runs, and 1 K vs Indian River in an elimination game.
This season, Mancillas was named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week during the final week of the regular season and is the All-Citrus North Pitcher of the Year as well as a First-Team All-Citrus North Conference player.
"I am very proud of Belle and Molly; this award shows the hard work both of them have put in and an example of their work ethic and leadership on the field" adds Head Coach Savanah Webster.
