Cox signs with West Florida
McKenzie Cox signs with the University of West Florida
Gainesville, FL
After an illustrious Santa Fe season that ended with an NJCAA DI World Series bid, McKenzie Cox will be moving onto the University of West Florida for the 2027 season. Cox is an Orlando, FL native who transferred to Santa Fe from Florida Gulf Coast University following the 2025 year.
Cox was one of the Saints' leading forces in the lineup during their historical season. Appearing in 65 games, Cox posted a .383 batting average, 74 RBIs, 43 extra base hits with a team high 18 home runs. Cox earned a reputation as a slugger, often hitting out of the No. 2 spot in the lineup. Defensively, she recorded 106 putouts and a .928 fielding percentage where she spent most of her time at third base.
Cox received multiple awards for her performance both on and off the field. She was named as a member of the First Team All-Citrus Conference North, Second Team All-FCSAA and earned a 2026 Spring All-Saints Academic Team award for the work she did in the classroom.
Cox will be joining a UWF squad that was similarly dominant to the Saints, compiling a 44-14 record during the 2026 season. The team's season ended after a trip to the NCAA DII South Regionals, but proved overall a successful year for the program. Being no stranger to postseason softball, Cox will provide experience to the Argonauts looking to continue a successful run.
