Daytona Beach, FL
Santa Fe traveled to Daytona Beach on Wednesday afternoon for the second matchup between the two conference schools. Daytona State walked away with a 72-71 win in dramatic fashion. The Saints dug themselves a hole early in the ball game falling behind 16-11 after the first quarter and 37-26 at the end of the first half. The Saints rallied back in the second half but came up just short. SF outscored Daytona State by 10 in the second half including a 27-point third quarter.
The Navy and White had three players in double figures, led by Madyson Burney who had a career night with 24 points on 10/24 shooting. Micah Hannah and Nakayla Green also contributed 10 points each. The Saints shot 36% from the field and just 33% from the free throw line in the loss.
Santa Fe travels to Eastern Florida on Saturday January 11th for a 2:00 PM tip.
