The Santa Fe Women's Basketball program has sent six players to four-year institutions the last two seasons. Shakiria Chaney and Malea Brown are two of the standouts at their four-year schools.
Shakiria Chaney, a first-year standout at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, is making waves in the 2024-2025 basketball season. Averaging an impressive 18.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, Chaney has quickly established herself as a dominant force on the court. Early in the season, she earned the title of SSAC Offensive Player of the Week, highlighted by a remarkable performance where she scored 27 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in a hard-fought 85-82 loss to Point University.
Malea Brown, now in her second year at Longwood University, has continued to excel on the basketball court. During the 2023-2024 season, she appeared in all 30 games, starting in 21 of them, and posted solid averages of 8.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. Notably, she ranked 121st in the NCAA with 1.97 steals per game. In the current 2024-2025 season, Brown is building on her success, averaging 7.9 points and an impressive 2.53 steals per game. She made a strong statement in the season opener against Lincoln (PA), delivering a standout performance with 21 points and 4 steals.
