Hawks Handle Saints at Hillsborough
Hillsborough hosted Santa Fe in their first of three meetings of the season

Santa Fe (3-11) traveled to the Hillsborough Community College Hawks (10-8) on Wednesday, January 21st, and the Hawks won 79-53.
After a 6-0 start by the Hawks, two made threes by Lorianys Castanon Cruz cut the Saints' deficit to 9-8. A layup by Malanie Francis tied the game 12-12, which was also the score at the end of the first quarter.
Hillsborough opened the second quarter with a 13-3 run to take a 26-15 lead. Castanon Cruz cut the deficit to 26-23 with back-to-back threes, a steal, and a long two-point basket. The Hawks went on a 17-2 run, ended by a buzzer-beating three by De'Mya Adams. The score at the half was 43-28 in favor of the Hawks.
Hillsborough extended their lead to 59-39 during the third quarter. Castanon Cruz opened the fourth quarter with back-to-back threes, and a layup by Blanca Garcia cut the deficit to 62-50 with six minutes left to play. The Hawks controlled the rest of the quarter and won 79-53.
The Saints will host Florida SouthWestern State College on Saturday, January 24th at 2:00pm.
