Santa Fe drops close game to Hillsborough

It was a tale of two halves on Wednesday night, with the Saints and Hawks squaring off for the second time this season.
Hillsborough started off the game strong, racing out to an early lead but not before the Saints came back and brought the lead down to one after the first quarter, 17-16. Hillsborough continued their successes ion the offensive end with an 18 point second quarter, bringing their lead back up to seven at he half as they lead 35-28. A close third quarter kept the seven point deficit the same for the Saints, but a fourth quarter comeback was brewing for Santa Fe.
The Saints strung together multiple 3-pointers that has the Santa Fe Gymnasium going crazy, eventually taking a two point lead with just a couple of minutes left. Hillsborough kept their offense in rythym and were able to get some key stops that eventualy did the Saints in as they took the win over Santa fe 65-63.
Lorianys Castanon Cruz led the Saints with 15 points, with Blanca Garcia and Aniyah Anderson as the only other Saints in double figures with 11 and 10 respectively.
The Saints fall to (6-15) overall and just (2-11) in conference play. They will take on Hillsborough again on Saturday, February 28th in Tampa. They return home to the Santa Fe College Gymnasium on Monday, March 2nd in the final game of the regular season at 5:00pm.
