Saints drop season finale
Santa Fe falls in their final game of the year to St. Petersburg
Gainesville, FL
Santa Fe (7-19) falls to St. Petersburg (10-20) 68-64 in yet another close game for the season finale.
The Saints and Titans battled back and fourth for the entirety of the game, with both teams exchanging the lead for the majority of the game. The Saints went out to a strong first quarter and led the Titans after 10 minutes 17-11. A 22 point second quarter overwhelmed the Saints as they took a 33-27 deficit into the halftime locker room. The Titans then extended their lead to nine after a fast and physical third quarter before the Saints offense got hot and dwindled the lead down to just one possession.
The Saints were shooting the ball well in the fourth quarter, but a turnover with under 15 seconds left on the clock proved to be too much for Santa Fe as they fell to (3-15) in Citrus Conference play.
Four of the six Saints scorers went into double figures, with Zion McRae leading the Saints with 16 points while Claudia Ordonez Cabello, Aniyah Anderson, and Lorianys Castanon Cruz added 15, 14, and 10 points respectively. The Saints do not advance to the Citrus Confernece Tournament and will wrap up year one under Head Coach David Lowery.
