No. 20 Volleyball Falls to Indian River State College, 3-0
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Santa Fe volleyball had its seven-match winning streak come to an end at the hands of Indian River State College, as the Pioneers prevailed in three tightly contested sets, 25-22, 25-23, 25-21.
The defeat was the first for Sainta Fe on their home floor this season, after winning all 12 sets played inside the SF Gymnasium prior to the match with Indian River State College.
Set 1 - IRSC 25, SF 22
The Saints led 5-3 in the early going, but six straight points from the Pioneers forced a Santa Fe timeout, now trailing 9-5.
The hosts drew back even for the first time at 16-16, and were tied on two more occasions as the score made its way to 22-22.
Three straight points for the Pioneers, however, concluded the opening set for a 25-22 result in favor of Indian River State College.
Set 2 - IRSC 25, SF 23
The largest gap between the two sides in Set 2 was a 16-12 lead for SF, but the Pioneers worked their way right back into it with a 7-3 spurt to tie it up at 19-19.
The two teams once again found themselves tied up at 22-22, and the Pioneers were once again the first side to earn a set point after an ace brought the score to 24-22.
Abbey James had a kill to keep the Saints' hopes alive, but Indian River State College then closed it out with a kill of their own.
Set 3 - IRSC 25, SF 21
Leading 8-7, Santa Fe proceeded to go on a 7-0 run to claim a 15-7 lead, forcing an IRSC timeout.
Indian River was able to quickly turn the set's momentum, however, and won 10 of the next 12 points to draw even at 17-17.
The set remained tied at 20-20, but five of the final six points went the way of the Pioneers to earn the sweep.

Kassidy Bolling led the Saints with ten kills, while Katelyn Crofts was one off of her season-high in the blocks category, finishing with six.
The Cheronis Perspective
Head Coach Nick Cheronis: " It was a tough loss against a really good team. Even though it was a 3-0 loss, we had our chances to win everyone of those sets. I credit Indian River and their aggressive serving that really took us out of our offensive rhythm."
