Saints Tackle Titans
Santa Fe outlasts St. Petersburg College and travels back to Gainesville with their 5th conference win
St. Petersburg, FL
Santa Fe (16-5) (5-3) outlasts St. Petersburg College (6-15) (2-6) 66-64 on Saturday afternoon in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Don't let the Titans sub .500 record fool you, they are a team who has been competitive in almost all of their Citrus Conference matchups.
The Saints certainly brought their defense with them to St. Petersburg, limiting the Titans to attempting just 58 total shots. Despite getting outrebounded, the Saints held St. Petersburg to just a handful of points in the final four minutes, giving the Saints the opportunity to close the game and bring another win back to Gainesville.
"Our defense won us this game. We did a great job guarding without fouling all game long and we got the stops we needed down the stretch" adds John Ritzdorf. "Moses [Horne] hit some big shots when we needed them and Palmer [Walton] had the block that helped us seal the game at the buzzer."
Moses Horne scored 13 and Tre Dubois added 11 for the Saints as the only two in double figures. Dubois added 8 rebounds and 5 steals while Alex Pierre-Louis and Palmer Walton added 4 steals each.
The Saints return home to play Polk State on Wednesday night at 6:00pm.
